LOS ANGELES – HITEC-LA announced that All Medical Solutions (AMS), one of its Service Partners, achieved a major milestone of delivering over $1 million in technical assistance to 650 HITEC-LA member health care providers. HITEC-LA’s goal is to help 3,000 eligible primary care providers in Los Angeles County implement and meaningfully use certified electronic health records (EHRs) by 2014.

HITEC-LA announced that to date, more than 1,500 of its member primary care providers, or over half of its membership, have made the transition from paper files to electronic health records (EHRs). The conversion is intended to help those providers further improve the efficiency and delivery of patient care. HITEC-LA’s goal is to help 3,000 eligible primary care providers in Los Angeles County implement and meaningfully use certified EHRs by 2014. read more...

HITEC-LA announces that to date, more than $100 million in payments has been issued to qualifying providers throughout California under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Incentive Program for implementing and using electronic health records (EHRs) in a meaningful way. On November 30, U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced that HHS intends to delay implementation of Stage 2 of Meaningful Use of electronic health records (HER) until 2014. Under previous rules, physicians who achieved meaningful use in 2011 would have had to move to the higher Stage 2 standard in 2013. read more...

The California Rural Indian Health Board has been approved by the National Indian Health Board Regional Extension Center and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT to serve as a subrecipient for the American Indian/Alaska Native National Regional Extension Center (National Indian REC) which will target eligible professionals throughout tribal and urban health programs in California.
